Valentine Day Poker Tournament Results

Siddhartha Banerjee (aka Le Chiffre) wins the Queen Of Hearts Poker Tournament with a Queen trips on the river. A fitting ending to Aim Poker Nights 1st Poker Tournament on the day of hearts.

The AIM Poker Nights' first official tournament is very well attended. The V-day Poker Tourney featured 16 players from different cohorts and programs of the Asian Institute of Management and a lone visitor in Pierre Francis Tan who has been a long time friend of Poker Boy Ken. To accommodate all the players the poker boys opened a second table.

Only nine players reached the final table: Table 1 (Ashu, Chris, Ashish, Ken, and Rahul) Table 2 (Siddhartha, Rohit, Pavaan, and Pierre). Sid started the final table with the lowest chip count but miraculously ended the night with a bang.

When it came down to the final two players (Sid and Ken) they both went all-in before the flop. Sid got Queen High and Ken got a King High. On the flop both a King and a Queen appeared giving Ken the advantage of a King pair over Sid's Queen pair. On the Turn came a numbered card and it seemed that Ken was about to win the tournament. Cupid must have been watching this V-day Poker Tournament and the Queen of Hearts appeared on the River. Poker boy Ken had to settle for a second place finish because no one could have written a better ending to a very exciting tournament.

Congratulations Sid, you are now the official King of Hearts of AIM Poker Nights.

Guess Who Wasn't Suited Up??

This is really hilarious!! The school was conducting its annual marketing campaign by taking pictures of its students in their "natural habitat" (the case room) and it seemed that someone didn't read their mail to wear their business suits to class.

All three poker boys ( Dindo, Ken, Mark) located at the front row, wore their casual wear while everybody was in their Sunday's best.

It will be incredibly easy to identify which guys will be "photoshoped" out of this picture.

AIM Poker Nights Fund Raiser

The Poker Boys were approached by their Marketing Professor (Prof Richard Cruz) and pitched the idea of holding a fund raiser for another Professor who currently has cancer.

The boys will come up with various fund raisers to help Professor Quintos-Gonzales with her ongoing battle against Cancer.

For those of you who don't know her she is a core faculty of the W. SyCip Graduate School of Business (WSGSB). She served as the director of the FAMCOR program since 1998. The FAMCOR program is geared towards understanding and managing the Family Corporation.

Updates on the fund raising activities to follow.

Hope that everyone will show their support in their own way.

POKER NIGHTS CANCELED

Poker Nights for February 05, 2009 is canceled due to the Poker Boys preparation for their
Strategic Negotiations Class the next day. The boys are really into this subject and are currently trying to outdo the other in terms of class performance. I heard from the boys that this simulation class being conducted by prof. Confessor and prof. DeVera is one of their best electives by far.

Regular Poker Night will resume on Saturday.

Unless of course someone from Cohort 3 takes the their place for one night.
will someone step up or we'll just wait for the Poker Boys on Saturday?
your call.

Poker Boys Drops on Manila China town Part 1

The Poker Boys took the initiative and invited some AIM Students from different courses to visit Manila China Town. The China town is located in Binondo, Manila just across the Pasig River.

Prior to Makati, Binondo was the center of the financial and business district in the Philippines. Personally I think that the place has lost its sparkle compared to Makati but it still has this rich history which many still find very intriguing to this day.

The Poker Boys, along with a small AIM delegation, left the campus grounds a little after 2:00pm on the day before the Chinese New Year Celebration. And they soon found themselves in the heart of a very busy China town street called Ongpin. Anna Laczynska (ISEP student) from Poland, is the epitome of child-like excitement, taking pictures and trying out local food like there was no tomorrow.

to be continued...

Poker Boys Comes Home Defeated but Full

Immortalized in the Burger Avenue Hall of Fame
Jacob "Makati Foodie" Tharian and Emil
with them are our very own
Poker boys Mark and Ken

Poker Boy Ken: "It was just too BIG"

Jacob the MAKATI Foodie triumphs over Poker Boys Mark and Ken when they met up at Burger Avenue for their RIDICULOUS BURGER CHALLENGE! It was a hard fought battle but in the end the true food critique won. (watch out for jacob's post on his blog www.makatifoodie.blogspot.com )

The boys had good fun stuffing their faces with that 1 pound Burger. It takes great skill and determination to really swallow that Ridiculous Burger in 5 minutes. Poker Boy Mark was few seconds away from being part of the Hall of Fame. Poker boy Ken said (with a mischievous glint in his eye) "Mark should practice how to swallow."

Hats off again to the competition. If there are anymore food challenge from our dear friend Jacob the poker boys will be always up for the challenge.

Till the next challenge

Poker Boys Ken Looks Good in Chocolate

Poker Boy Ken celebrates his 26th birthday with the AIM Poker Nights community. Just to show his dedication and passion to this community, he conducted the POKER tutorial on his birthday.

But true to the ASIAN INSTITUTE of MANAGEMENT Birthday Tradition, Poker Boy was presented a birthday cake, got a birthday song (ISEP student Anna sang the Polish version) and a Cake in the Face.

For the longest time it has seemed that the "cake in the face" ceremonies here at the institute has been around since the dawn of AIM time.

And to be honest, Poker boy Ken, you look good in chocolate!
Brings a whole new meaning to sweetening the pot!

3rdRocSon Banned From Poker Nights This Week

AIM Poker Player Emil "3rdRocSon" Tan is banned from playing in this week's poker nights. The Poker Boys has banned Emil Tan this week for reasons that is very close to our hearts...

Emil, an MM 2009 (Masters of Management) student has to concentrate on his school work more this week as their deadlines are coming up next week. He will try to finish off some work on his MRR or thesis. He is currently writing on a feasibility study of a food business.

The Poker Boys, first and foremost, support academic activities before anything else. This bi-weekly Poker gathering is more of a relaxing escape from the pressures of the caseroom. A venue where everyone just be themselves. But the AIM Poker Nights should never get in the way of each student's responsibility to study and learn.

well boys and girls, seems like the poker boys is putting their foot down in this issue.
we will just have to play hard and study harder...
